A deck is the one part of the house that lives outdoors all year. Ohio gives it freeze, thaw, sun and damp in rotation, which is why decks fail from the footings and the fasteners long before the boards wear out.
We build new decks, stairs and railings, and we stain them, new or existing. On sloping ground, which is most of this county, that usually means more than one level.

Stain goes on after the boards have had time to dry. Staining wet lumber is the single most common reason a brand-new deck looks blotchy a season later, and it cannot be fixed without stripping it back.
